Of heartaches and yardages...

I hate it when my brain decides I'm going to be awake whether I want to or not. No nightmares, no fighting neighbors, not even a storm.

Maybe my cold medication was all that was keeping me asleep...hmm...perhaps I'm more stressed than I thought. Teach me to spend the day with Agnes...I'd say it was all her fault for reminding me of the looming 12th night costuming deadline, but cracking open books to check pattern styles, yardages, etc didn't seem to relax me.

Possibly it's that my only day off between now and the 25th is going to be spent traveling for 10 hours (round trip) to see my Mom, since I can't make it over on Christmas. I blasted over to Victoria on the eve of the 24th the last two years, and last year I got stuck on the Island when a storm stopped the ferries from running. This year, I decided to try and go over earlier, but still can't get more than one day off in a row. Oh well, at least the wonderful world of public transit won't be running on Sunday schedules this time.

Well, either the new dose of cold medicine is kicking in, or the rant has done some good. I'm feeling like sleep may be in my near future again.

Oh yes, the title of the post...spellcheck suggested replacing "yardages" with "heartaches". Anyone who's ever made period costumes can probably agree with me that it's not a bad suggestion.
